I live in Boston and hadn’t heard about this. How ridiculous and disgusting. The interesting thing is that I have met more open-minded, accepting cis straight people here in New England (especially Boston) than I did when I lived in the Midwest, but there are still pockets of bigotry around. Last year, during a rally for Yes on 3 (the trans rights state referendum) at Government Center, there were a handful of anti-trans protestors. They were so ineffectual that many people attending didn’t know they were there, and the crowd around them disagreed with them vociferously, but they were there, proof that this kind of thinking still exists in my city and my state.

I also agree that white nationalism is at the bottom of this. Thanks for pointing this out and speaking out.
