I’m a bit concerned that you refer to being transgender as an ideology. Is cisgender an ideology? I am a trans woman regardless of whether you hold with any particular ideology. And here again, I feel you are conflating gender identity and gender expression. A “butch dyke,” is just another presentation open to women. There are trans women who present as butch and cis women who present very femme. It has nothing to do with their gender. Finally, what about non-binary folks? Are they also “reifying the notion that femininity means ‘woman’ and masculinity means ‘man?’” There are just about as many forms of presentation for non-binary people as there are non-binary folks in the world.
