I’m not sure it is fair to put Illich in the same category as Monaghan or Schnatter. I’m from Detroit and remember when Illich bought the Detroit Tigers from Monaghan, basically to pull them out of the garbage heap Monaghan had put them in. I also remember when he revived the Fox Theater, moved all his corporate operations including Little Ceasars to Downtown Detroit, and helped revitalize a large swath of the city. By the way, he was so quiet in helping Rosa Parks, most people didn’t even learn about it until he died, long after Rosa Parks herself was gone.
